The House and garden were unoccupied after Blanche Hoschedé death in 1947, until the opening of the museum sponsored by Van der Kempf in 1980. The garden was recreated based on invoices, vintage photographs, and paintings by Claude Monet. This painting is critical as it captures Monet’s house and garden at a time when very few photos had been taken. One is able to recreate the setting from this painting.
